About Archeo

INTERIOR

Combining an open plan and welcoming hospitality, Archeo is the restaurant equivalent of the urban loft apartment. High yellow pine ceilings, concrete floors, exposed brick walls and the reclaimed timber bar and tables are a perfect blend of contemporary style and historic tradition. Large scale photographs of on-site heritage architecture by artist Steven Evans are novel room dividers lending the large open-concept room a sense of relaxed intimacy. Perfect for cozy lunches or large functions of up to 200. Name your party.

PATIO

A sheltered oasis at the heart of Toronto's Historic Distillery District, Archeo's outdoor patio is alfresco dining at its summertime best. An abundance of foliage and flowers and cobblestone underfoot create a sense of a place far removed from it all, despite the buzz of the nearby financial district being an easy stroll away. A laid-back lunch, dinner, cocktail or business function destination.

HISTORY

Archeo's name is derived from archeology and its uniqueness as a casual dining destination owes much to its multi-layered past. A rare of example of Victorian Industrial architecture, its industrial patina comes naturally, given its origins as an 1887 maintenance house that once serviced the alcohol and purification and storage facilities inside Toronto's historic Distillery District. Initially a single open space devoted to a fitting shop, by 1889 it was divided into two halves, one each for a carpenter's and plumber's shop. Today restored to its original open-concept design, Archeo is a contemporary-styled restaurant with a unique historic setting.
